Useful Tips - Managers



Encourage managers to have a specialist subject. This will give them more credibility.

All managers need to negotiate, even if only with each other and their staff, so send them on a training course. 

Make sure that each manager knows exactly what they are 'managing'.

Differentiate between those managers managing people and those managing products and have different objectives for each.

Objectives for managers managing people should be in terms of people (their careers, expertise, personal development, etc) not in terms of money.

Don't make people 'managers' for promotion purposes or to award extra money - managers should manage.

Every manager should have a specific deputy who has received training in the associated procedures and documentation.
